My fireplace mantel decorations were bugging me. I felt like something was missing, or off. Sticks. Yes, that is what I needed. I needed some sticks. I wanted swirly, fun, willowy sticks that cost too much money for me right now to purchase. Sadness. I really wanted sticks.
And then it occurred to me that I have a ton of very cool looking sticks all over the telephone wires in the backyard. To the untrained eye, these sticks are ugly, an eyesore even. To my eye, they were perfect. But I’m not crazy enough to pull sticks down from electrical wires. Don’t be silly! That is what husbands are for.

While gathering sticks, I photographed the contrasting beauty of the garden with the beauty of my boys. They apparently like sticks too.
Boys, look at the beautiful flowers. GRRRRRRRRRR! ROOOOAAAARRRRRR!!!!
As long as I can have my sticks in the end, and they can have their sticks. We are all happy.

Oh yeah those boats are to cute also…I am like you, birthday money or any fun money I always seem to spend some on my girls stuff to…
Have a great week!
Beth – You do such a great job of letting our grand boys be boys! Asher looks like David valiantly fighting Goliath. A keeper for sure.
Wish my morning glories did as well as yours. Gorgeous, gorgeous!

I, too, found free sticks to decorate with in the hours! A tree fell in the woods behind us= pefect for filling my pots! I think I might have to hang some cute Halloween things on them, as you did! Very clever, Beth.
Glad the boys could play with their own sticks, too. I remember doing that as a kid. I was a tomboy with 3 brothers. LOL

So cute- and you can't beat the price!
I LOVE the sticks!! Great idea…and free! Also, love the morning glories! I planted, yes planted, them around the ugly post that housed our satellite. Now, the flowery weeds make even the satellite look better.
Oh so creative! Doesn't it feel great when you make something that literally costs nothing!
Thanks for stopping by at my blog. I'll keep you in my 'followed' blogs.
Look forward to seeing you at our next meeting! It's so nice to know someone else who likes crafting AND blogging.
I tell you, in REAL life, it's so rare.
The natural elements brought indoors always add to the look of the home. Great job.

Your sticks are so cute… your sons- even cuter! : )
Priceless!
So cute! Your kids are adorable!
Your decorations look so fun and festive!
Gotta love the free sticks! Funny, a neighbor cut down their tree and I took all the good branches and sticks before they got tossed. I have used them for quite a few projects. I love the swirly ones too, but my wallet loves these alot more.
🙂

Very cute and it looks like you had fun. I notice you put the sticks in the birdcage ~ are your boys still asking about the bird?
Cute! It looks like you had fun gethering the sticks as a family. Good for you!
