Just wanted to pop in and say Happy 4th of July everyone! I am still in Virginia enjoying some time with my mom and sisters and thought you might like to see my mom’s house all decked out for the 4th. My mom lives right on the Chesapeake Bay in a dreamy yellow Victorian.
Today was a beach day with lots of friends, a ton of kids, and a huge lunchtime feast. We all sat in the gazebo and ate grilled bratwurst, seven-layer dip, pineapple casserole, watermelon, blueberry salad, whoopie pies, brownies, cookies, and on and on! Yikes :)!
My mom’s buntings are so festive and fun! She puts them up every year and I just love them.
Uncle Sam has been around forever. We pull him out every year for picture ops. Eowyn woofed at him at first, and was a bit leery about sitting on his lap, but at the promise of a treat she cooperated for the picture :).

It’s too bad that I don’t know you (I read your blog all the time). I live in Virginia Beach and Williamsburg is 52 miles from my house. It would have been so exciting to have met you. I hope you are having great time!
This looks like all of the houses along the bay when I lived in Norfolk. Wondering if it is close. I love it there.

Your mother’s home is beautiful. I am saving the photograph for our consult with the architect (we want to add an second floor sleeping porch at some point). Eowyn is adorable and looks like a stuffed dog on the Uncle Sam doll’s lap!
