How to Make a Tulip Topiary Chandelier {$25 Visa Gift Card Giveaway}

This post brought to you by iBulb. All opinions are 100% mine.

Tulips are one of my all-time favorite flowers and simply shout Springtime to me. I love buying cut tulips for myself this time of year and believe that they are a beautiful addition to any Easter tablescape. I purchase my tulips at our local grocery store but you can also find cut tulips at garden centers and flower shops. This year, I decided to try something new by creating a Topiary Tulip Chandelier. Here is what you will need to create one for yourself.

Supplies needed:

1. Faux topiary ball.

2. Ribbon.

3. Floral water picks.

4. Cut tulips.

Instructions:

1. Cut the stems of the tulips and place each stem in a floral water pick.

2. Tie a ribbon to the faux topiary ball and attach to a hook in the ceiling.

3. Arrange stems in the faux topiary ball.

That is seriously it. So simple! This is an easy and elegant way to add drama and interest above your table. I usually dress up my dining room table for holidays, but this time I chose to create an Easter tablescape on our everyday kitchen table. I absolutely love the way the tulip topiary chandy looks. I think I’ll be using this technique in the future with more cut flowers. The beauty of using cut tulips is that the stems naturally bend downwards creating a cascading effect as they open.

For the tablescape, I started with a blue throw for my “tablecloth”. I often use this trick when I don’t have a tablecloth that quite works and I don’t feel like buying a new one. In the center of the plates, I used bird nests from the dollar store filled with yellow Cadbury eggs.

The yellow polka-dot ribbon was a fun addition to the yellow tulips and yellow eggs. My carrots were actually such a bright orange and were distracting, so I glazed them with yellow paint!

The place cards are from Martha Stewart and were something I already had on hand. The bunny was from Pottery Barn, the bee glasses from Christmas Tree Shop, and the egg salt and pepper shakers from Target.

And here are just a few more fun pictures showing off my Easter Tablescape.

  1. Oh my word Beth, this is so pretty! I love tulips too. They’re for sure my favorite flower… I love their simple elegance… plus my grandmother was 100% Dutch, so that may be part of it too… I can still see her gorgeous bulb gardens… I’d love to try my hand at creating a similar bulb chandy that you made here, it is really gorgeous! Little Bit

  2. Hey there! Someone in my Facebook group shared this website with us so
I came to look it over. I’m definitely loving the information. I’m bookmarking and will be tweeting this to my followers!
Excellent blog and terrific design and style.

  3. Tulips in a delicate vase on a pottery dished lined with plastic Easter eggs and grass.
    Thank you.

  4. We love Tulips at our house. My 22 yr old daughter bought herself some for Valentines day & they were beautiful 🙂

  5. tulips are my favorite flower, and in germany during easter they always use branches with decorated blown out eggs that hang off almost like a christmas tree with ornaments. I would hang some tulips down too

  6. I’d put tulips in canning jar vases around the house–and give some to my live-in MIL who adores tulips.

  7. A few years back Martha Stewart did a basket with little pompom chicks and tulips. I recreated it but haven’t done it since. I would love to do it again.

  8. Make hair wreaths for everyone (yes, men included) and make them obligatory wear for Easter day.

  9. I would make a tulip wreath to celebrate spring and add some color to our home.

  10. Tulips are my favorite flower. I would make a centerpiece with them and put some in a vase for my dining room table.

  11. Tulips are my favorite flower even though they last the shortest amount of time! I love what you did but my OCD nature would not quit fussing with it to make it hang straighter! LOL I’d like to try to make one with tulips covering the entire sphere or maybe put them on a wreath with the little vases you used!

  12. I would make the tulip topiary just like you did! We have an Easter brunch every year and I love making a different tablescape every year! What a great idea, thanks for the tutorial!

  13. What a cute idea, Beth…I stopped by jsut to check in and say “hello’. We are still in packing and moving mode and my projects and posts are still on hold. I hope to be back in full swing in June!

  14. I would love to make a centerpiece for my kitchen table! I LOVE tulips and would love to have them to look at each day!

  15. So cute! The tulip topiary is so easy and has such a frantic effect! I have tulips in a white pitcher on my breakfast nook table right now 🙂

  16. I am not very creative — I would put them in a nice vase on the dining room table!
I do love your idea, though!

  17. I would copy your idea and put it in my mother-in-laws dining room. So, so beautiful.

  18. I would add them to my kitchen table as part of my tablescape for Easter. Tulips are so beautiful.

  19. I’d make a centerpiece for the dinner table… it would be great for Easter!

  20. after displaying them on my dinner table I would let the kids mix the flowers with water and let them make a paint mix like I did when i was a kid.

  21. I just scored a collection of chemical bottles (think big, brown, and glass. and GORGEOUS), in which I currently have some blooming branches. Tulips, though, would look fabulous.
(I love your topiary chandy though!)

  22. I would make a pretty wreath for my mom’s grave site. Tulips were her favorite flowers and they always make me think of her.

  23. I love tulips. They don’t last long so I would put them in a nice vase and enjoy.

  24. I would fill a clear jar with plastic easter eggs, fill with water then add the tulips. Makes a nice spring/easter decoration.

  25. I would use the tulips as a center piece for my table. I LOVE tulips, they are my favorite flower. I sold my house, moved across the country and am currently renting a house. It is so hard to decorate this rental (I was told to not even use screws on the walls.). Tulips would liven the place up a lot. Thanks for the insight and the giveaway!

  26. I’d make a doorhanger with a basket lined so I could make sure they get the water they need!!! I luv tulips!

  27. I would have tulips coming out of a basket. I love love tulips. They are how my husband and I first started dating.

  28. Tulips look great in my house on the coffee table. I’d use a wooden bunny and some marble eggs to partner with the tulips on a tray which I’m planning to paint in the near future. Jo @ Let’s Face the Music

  29. Love this idea! It’s a breath of springtime which I could use about now!! I would enjoy tulips on my kitchen table.

  30. I have a vase my kids painted that I would put them in. Although I do like someone elses idea about the pictures

  31. I have been collecting galvanized buckets and have quite a pile. I would just use them add some chalk labels and put on porch.. Thanks for the chance.

  32. Sorry the raffle copter widget was missing when I scrolled through initially. You can delete my original comment .. I like to wrap a ribbon around tulips in a vase to keep them upright as long as possible, then a few days later let them fall naturally.
