You all probably know by now that I am a sucker for any great diy light! Tonight while browsing on Pinterest, I stumbled across this tutorial from Bookhou posted on Poppytalk for creating a woven lamp using strips of wood veneer and an Ikea HEMMA light. I think the same concept could be used to create a knock off version of these Serena & Lilly Birds Nest Hanging Lamps pictured below which retail for a whopping $245….each! GASP!
I have had this Serena & Lilly pic in my inspiration file forever, but I’m running out of lights to diy. One of you needs to run with this idea and show me your results. I know it will be fabulous! 😉

In a word: Veneer strips! It’s strips of wood made for covering the edges of plywood, but you could probably turn them into lamp shades.

Oh, I love it! I’ve seen another one similar using embroidery hoops.
