Here is a fabulous idea that I’m anxious to try! Rugs can get expensive. For low traffic areas, why not make your own floorcloth? Cover a tablecloth with a few coats of polyurethane and add a rug pad underneath. Click on the link for the full tutorial.

You can also use a vinyl remnante which can be purchased at any flooring store. Turn it upside down and use the “paper” side of the vinyl.
I actually didn’t read the entire tutorial before I commented. Shame on me! With the vinyl you have to paint . You use a base paint of a color of your choice. once this dries you can stencil a design onto the surface or is your brave freehand something. Once dry protect with several coats of polurethane make sure to protect the edges of the vinyl as well.Dry completely and enjoy!!
Thanks Kim! I’ve seen some others do that in the blogosphere and it looks great.
I’ve been wanting to do a floorcloth, but hadn’t thought of using a tablecloth. Now to find just the right one!
love love love this idea! i can’t wait to try it!!!
