My new camera and lenses don’t fit well in my current camera bag. I want to buy a new one, but the cost on cute camera bags is insane! So of course I’m thinking of making my own. This tutorial by Vanilla & Lace might prove helpful. Have any of you made your own camera bags? Any tips?

Thank you so much for this post! 🙂 I’ve spent more time than I care to admit searching for a cute camera bag that doesn’t cost your soul! I finally decided to get a bag I love and make a camera cozy to go in it . . .then stumbled across your post to seal the deal that this was the route to take. You rock! Thanks! 🙂

I contemplated making my own, but I have a love/hate relationship with my sewing machine. Never mind the act that I just don’t have time to drag it out right now. That’s why I decided, in the end, to order an insert from Seasons Totes on etsy.

I love the idea of being able to use it in several different bags. I even took measurements for what I thought would work best for my equipment. She was able to customize an insert for me, and I can’t wait for it to arrive tomorrow so I can check it out!

Yep…I made my own a while back. Make sure to get one that has a decent length and height, you have to keep in mind ths size of your camera and lenses etc. I found several really cute purses that I wanted to use, but they were either too narrow, or not tall enough…so just keep that in mind when shopping. Make sure to pad the bottom a little thicker because that’s where your camera will take the most hits…from setting it down. I found a purse with different sections inside too..that helped with not having to make as many padded compartments..I figured if the lenses were going to be in the center section, they would be padded from both sides, so I didn’t have to make extra padding there. 🙂
Hope that helped!
