Summer Backyard Refresh and World Market Summer Getaway Sweepstakes

We live in the city in a very urban setting and our back “yard” is teeny-tiny-itsy-bitsy. I am determined to get my family enjoying the outdoors even if our space is small. Last summer, I refreshed our back porch and this year I have worked on sprucing up the yard and patio. It was in pretty good shape but our chairs were missing outdoor cushions. Thanks to World Market’s Summer Backyard Refresh challenge I was able to solve that problem!

If you’ve never been to a World Market, then you are missing out. The stores are so much fun to shop! I hit a bunch of sales on outdoor items which was fantastic.

They had a bunch of cute picnic gear and Americana items that would be adorable for a 4th of July party. I love the idea of hanging a bunting under a market umbrella. I will be borrowing that idea for sure!

Outdoor Entertaining is one of my favorite things about summer! I spent forever fussing over cushions in this section. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to mix and match all of the pillows for our table or if I wanted a more streamlined look. Needless to say, I drove my family crazy by decorating floor models so that I could get the full visual on what I’m purchasing. What can I say? I’m a visual girl! 

The beach themed accessories were adorable and tempting. It would be so easy to get a bit carried away in here.  

I have been on the lookout for a cute food screen for some time now, and I was thrilled to finally find one! Flies on your watermelon are so not fun.

Outdoor Furniture can also be found at World Market. I loved these bright adirondack chairs paired with the colorful cushions. They would definitely brighten up a deck or patio.

So many choices! Well, after a ton of deliberation, I decided to buy the White Antigua outdoor cushions and toss pillows. I didn’t want anything with ties because we remove the pillows so frequently. I was tempted to mix and match the cushions but in the end the streamlined look won me over.

I also purchased a cute tea towel and food screen. They definitely brighten the table and add some sculptural interest.      

Woohoo! I am so thankful that my watermelon is protected from bugs now and looking cute to boot.

And here is what the scene looked like last night at dinner. Picture perfect if I do say so myself! THIS is what summer should look like :).
