After creating some “dummy panels” for our breakfast nook, I had some fabric left over. I had planned on using the remnant for some throw pillows, but on an impulse, decided to make two faux roman shades instead!
I think I’ve read every faux roman shade tutorial out there, but Richella’s is by FAR my favorite! It’s so easy, it’s brilliant. For her full tutorial click here. I made some slight modifications to Richella’s tutorial simply because I didn’t want to buy more tension rods.
The first thing I did was hot glue all the seams of my fabric and glue some fringe to the bottom. Next, I tacked up my fabric to the window ledge using some upholstery tacks I had on hand.
As a reminder, here is what this space looked like before (from the opposite angle):
And here it is after. Sigh….so much better!
And because I can’t resist, here is my breakfast nook with rug in place and some cheap, cheap, CHEAP seat cushions.
