TJ Maxx Marshalls Blogger Event

Last week along with 21 other bloggers (from very diverse niches), I attended a blogger event for TJ Maxx/Marshalls at their headquarters located in Boston.  And oh. my. goodness. FUN!  

I arrived at our hotel, the Fairmont Copley Plaza late Wednesday afternoon…

…and just enjoyed the beauty of the hotel…

…and the beauty of having a huge hotel room all to myself!  (I’m such a dork. Can you believe that I wrote a blog post and took a nap in my two hours of free time?)

At 6:30pm we were scheduled to meet in the hotel’s lobby to be escorted by adorable trolly to a swanky restaurant called Post 390.  The trolly was all decked out for Christmas and even included an electric fireplace in the back.  It was so cute!

I hung out with Laurie from Tip Junkie and really enjoyed getting to know her better.  (Laurie took this pic of us on the way to dinner using her iphone.)  She’s a doll.

At Post 390, we enjoyed peppermint martinis (so yummy, but not wise on an empty stomach :), and heavy hors d’oeuvres.  This time was set aside just for mingling and introductions.  I really enjoyed chatting with Laura McDowell, Manager of Media Relations for TJ Maxx/Marshalls, about balancing life, work, and kids.  She was delightful to chat with.

The next morning we met in the lobby at 7:45am and were given gift bags filled with Christmas goodies.

Our party trolly escorted us to TJ Maxx/Marshalls headquarters where we were greeted by one of Santa’s elves….

…and carolers…

…and a full breakfast including a Barista at a cappuccino cart.  
After breakfast, we entered a conference room to be educated on all things off-price.  On our tables were Christmas stockings filled with gloves and a scarf for each of us.

On the side of the room were many holiday gifts currently offered at TJ Maxx/ Marshalls (slideshow courtesy of 2 Wired 2 Tired).

We heard several presentations educating us on how the buyers are able to score amazing deals on their merchandise.  I’ll tell you more about this in an upcoming post.  Michael MacMillan, President of TJ Maxx/Marshalls let us know that his buyers purchased 2300 iPads to be released in select stores this week!
Here is a video clip (courtesy of 2 Wired 2 Tired) showing the quality of merchandise offered and the price difference between the same outfit purchased at a department store versus TJ Maxx/Marshalls.

…and a tour of the building!  There were huge rooms filled with handbags, shoes, bath products, etc.  It was truly fantastic!

After our building tour, we were taken to the local TJ Maxx and Marshalls to do some shopping!  We were given a gift card for ourselves and a gift card for our Secret Santa recipient.  All of us drew names of another blogger in attendance and were asked to shop for that person.  (Pssst.  If my Secret Santa is reading this, there is an adorable plaid coat, tan/black, size Medium at TJ Maxx that I had my eye on.  I also saw an adorable cream colored, belted, furry sweater in size Medium that would look cute on me. Just a thought. 😉

After shopping, we said our goodbyes and headed straight for the airport.  It was a whirlwind trip!  I’ll tell you more about what I learned about TJ Maxx and Marshalls in an upcoming post.  This was just an overview of the fun. Thank you so much TJ Maxx/ Marshalls for having me as your guest!  I had an amazing time!

    wish i knew you were so close by. i live about 20 min. from the hq's. hope you had a great time. you just missed the first snow- yesterday. i had shoulder surgery 2 weeks ago so i have not been commenting much, and my caps and punc. are a little lacking.

I have LONG been a fan of TJ Maxx/Marhalls and have literally been shopping there for years. I know all about the bargains! Loved the behind the scenes look.
