and then the thrill of Halloween…
…somehow Thanksgiving seems to be an after thought.
It’s just that holiday we have to hurry up and get through before we can get on with the real stuff…Christmas!
But wait Beth. Today it is time to stop, and breathe, and pause on the little things….
Christmas will have her turn. Today, it is time to focus on the blessings.
The family around the table…
The life I am so grateful for….
…and you sweet friend! I am so incredibly grateful for YOU! The fact that you visit me. You take time to comment. You affirm me, and love me, and laugh with me. You have been one of the greatest, unexpected gifts in my life this year and I do not take you for granted. You rock peeps!
Don’t let this season pass you by. Pause right now and count your blessings. No matter how horrible your circumstances, I promise you that the blessings are their alongside like buried treasures waiting to be discovered. Take the time today to be grateful. For by being grateful, you will then find that you are truly blessed!
And I’ll bet Jane will have one easy blessing to count tonight! Congrats Jane from Blondie’s Journal for winning the Simple Starfish Giveaway! Don’t forget to get your orders in early for all your great metal stamped jewelry. Christmas cut-off dates are right around the corner.
So, what are you grateful for today?

Such beautiful pictures! My kids and I just discussed this on our way to get some winter clothing. They are disappointed for me that more stores don't carry Thanksgiving decorations! How cute is that? We discuss gratitude often so it's no surprise that they're interested in Thanksgiving. What a wonderful reminder. God is good!

Lovely post, Beth. I have always felt a bit sad for Thanksgiving…even as a child…yes, I'm a dork. You and your blog are a blessing in our lives as well. Happy Monday!

Fabulous post! I have to admit I get grumpy when I see the Christmas hype start right after (or even BEFORE) Halloween. I know people mean well, but it just seems so greedy to me. I agree about the need to stop, reflect, and be grateful.
I think Thanksgiving is actually my favorite holiday. You get to be with family, and eat great food, and watch football, all without the pressures that can be associated with Christmas.
Today I am grateful my husband is coming home from a very long business trip this Friday. It's hard being on my own with the kids for long stretches, but I'm grateful he has a good job and that we are happy, safe and secure.

You're so right, Beth! On this horribly windy and rainy Monday, I plan on setting aside a few minutes this morning to think about all I have to be grateful for. It does tend to put me in a good mood when I do that and if I just count the people in my life, I have much to be grateful for!

Thanksgiving is a big deal in my house – we started a new tradition when my son was just a little thing. Instead of the traditional gathering at grandma's – daddy's work schedule over the holidays made it impossible. So, I started having dinner at my house – invited any of the family to come if they would like – I make plenty – and just make it a day for "us".
Every year my kids get so excited about Thanksgiving – we spend the whole day in the kitchen. Cooking, laughing, some crafty activities, talking about the past year and what we have to be thankful for – something that we try to do as much as possible – but on this day it's just that much more special.
This year – it's bigger and gives cause to so much to be thankful for. I am thankful for another year with my kids…health issues have made the "everyday activities" difficult sometimes. And I am very thankful for another year with my mom – we nearly lost her this year.
And last – Beth, I am thankful for bloggers like you. That give me inspiration to look within for ways to make our house always feel like HOME. It's not how much you spend – it's all about the people, the love, the memories – that make a home warm and welcoming. Thank you, and I am looking forward to many many more stories and inspiration from you – more so the stories…it brings back so many memories of when my teenagers where younger. They grow up too fast…

Thank you for the reminder. It's amazing how blessed we realize we already are when we only take the time to be grateful. I am thankful for you! 🙂

Well said, dear woman! You are right, so very right–too often Thanksgiving does end up being the "forgotten holiday." Of course, we should be making a practice of being thankful every day. . . but it's so easy for us to forget just how much we have to be grateful for. A special season of remembrance is a good thing. And I thank you for calling us to that remembrance.

Sweet post…and SO true! Thanksgiving easily becomes "just that holiday" between Halloween and Christmas. We need more time to slow down and count our blessings 🙂
