Vignette n. A deliberate collection of objects, typically similar in theme, which evoke the senses, make an impact, visually stimulate and cause others to squeal, “Holy cow, that looks fantastic!” (Okay, so I have no idea what the technical definition of vignette is in the design world, but I like my definition so I’m stickin’ with it!)
I thought you all might be a tad tired of looking at my dining room and mantel, so I thought I would move us into the bedroom. Ooh-la-la! I am in the middle of painting and redecorating everything in there, but that didn’t stop me from setting up a bunch of pretties on my freshly painted barely blue wall! (I am loving the color by the way; Benjamin Moore’s In Your Eyes in case you are wondering.) I also know it is a tad early for shell-themed vignettes in some of your books, but in my world it is never too early for shells! Besides, we’ll be having plenty of Easter eye candy to look at today.
My inspiration for today’s vignette started with the book Gift from the Sea which I am currently reading.
It was already sitting on my nightstand so it set the perfect stage for me to build around. The lamp and cake stand were recent purchases from the Christmas Tree Shop and everything else was snatched up from various parts of the house. The fabric in the basket is waiting to be sewn into curtains.
Having just painted, I had a bunch of frames lying around on the floor. I just popped the glass out of this one and grabbed a sea star that had been hanging in my bathroom and looped it through the top. I love the look!
For those who have been following me since Christmas, you’ll remember seeing these ornaments hanging from white stockings in my master bathroom. They look so cute in my nest.
The piece of driftwood and coral shell was found on the beach the day my dad passed away. I love all of my gifts from the sea.
Linking my post to another fantastic party:
Thanks for looking. And now it is your turn to show off!
To join the vignette party, please do the following:
1. PUBLISH: Create a post that is related to vignettes. Although I appreciate all projects, all non-vignettey posts will be deleted.

3. LINK: Link to your post title, not just to your entire site.
4. MINGLE: Try and visit a few others who have joined the party and leave some comments. Parties are no fun if we don’t socialize!

ok wow! I love the theme and the presentation. It's always nice when a vignette has sentimental value rather than pieces collected from home goods and the like.
I have to make some ornaments like yours and i love the new mclinky alternative – seeing a pic is awesome!!

Just want to say that I really like the way you have a small image next to each person's link: that is very helpful… and also makes the page look great! I'll join you next time..

Great party, thanks for hosting! I have the same book, given to me a couple of years ago for my birthday from my childhood friend. I use it in the summertime with my decorations and shells. Your display is wonderful!

It looks beautiful and love the sentiment attached to so many of your pieces. Love the new wall color too. Thanks for hosting another fun party.

What a pretty vignette you have! I love those sea stars, can you believe I have never found one of those in real life. The ones you can find here are more flat, smaller and not half as nice.
And that glass base lamp is gorgeous.
Good thinking on the empty frame. And I particularly like the piece of driftwood you found at the beach, adds a very nice personal element to it.
In short: wonderful job!

I love your vignette – so cool and beachy!
I looked around and I don't have anything cute to put up, I will put something together tomorrow and post it. I want it to be really pretty.
Fun party!

I love your sea themed vignette!
I'm so bummed that I didn't get a chance to finish my mantle. It's half done and I was going to take a pic, but I am just now (at 10 p.m.) getting to the computer.

Your vingette makes me long for summer. I absolutely love how you hung the seastar from the frame. And the basket under the table totally finishes the whole look off. I'm excited to browse through the party!

I love your beachy vignette and how it was inspired by the book. That's a good starting place. I learned a little late about your party. Is it a weekly thing?
Oh, I love the starfish hanging from the frame, too!
