I have made it safely to Virginia to spend some time with my parents and sisters, but I wanted to show you how I spent last evening. Oh, where in the world would we be without Rhoda’s post on Beadboard Wallpaper? She posted about it back in June, and I was so excited that I purchased some online the same day. I have actual wainscot in the boys’ bathroom and now wish that I’d requested it for the entire 2nd level! This wallpaper is so easy to work with that if our budget freeze ever thaws I would actually consider going crazy with it.
I have never hung wallpaper before. In fact, after stripping all three levels of our last home from top to bottom of hideous mauve paper that must have been liquid-nailed to the wall, I vowed I would NEVER use the stuff as long as I live. I vowed I would never subject anyone else to that kind of torture. Well…never say never I guess. But seriously, if I can hang this stuff like a pro so can you. Uh Beth, hate to be the one to tell you this but your top edge looks horrible. I wouldn’t exactly be bragging about stellar papering abilities with a finished product like this! Yes, yes, it’s a bit jagged on top. I’m lazy. The top will be covered with some rain gutter bookshelves, so I wasn’t concerned about creating a straight edge. Some of you are horrified by this and wish you could reach through the computer screen with your exacto knife. Deep breaths Type A’s, deep breaths.
When I return home, I’ll caulk, paint, and then hang the gutters. The boys’ beds will be placed in this nook with their cute restyled barn stars above each of their heads. The revitalized nightstand will go in between and I’m working on coming up with a lamp. Can’t wait to show you the finished product soon. But for now, I’m going to go enjoy some time with my family. Hope you do the same!
p.s. A few days ago I featured my little sis from Little Page Turners! Today she was featured on One Pretty Thing! Way to go Chrissy :).

Okay, so I'm totally confused. I looked up 'wainscot wallpaper' and found something on the home depot that says that it is 'paintable'. Does this wallpaper have a wainscot 'texture' to it?

Glad to know you arrived safely…hope you all have a wonderful visit.
I really like that wallpaper. Saw it on Rhoda's. We are renters so sadly, it's not an option for me right now 🙁
Take care 🙂

That wallpaper is amazing! You've done a great job–especially for never wallpapering before! I can't WAIT to see it all done with the gutters!

Congrats on trying new things! I want to do this for my bedroom – like 2/3 up the wall for my beachy theme…maybe I will get up the nerve to try!
