Homecreators Conference 2011

I have been toying with an idea, and I think it’s a fantastic idea. What if there was a conference held in Virginia Beach, VA in the summer of 2011 for all of US???  What if we could meet each other face to face and sit under tutorials from some of our favs?  What if we could stay up late trading spray paint and DIY stories?  Instead of asking what if….I’m asking why not?  I’m talking to people.  I’m dreaming, and I’m so excited to try and make this a reality.  

Don’t get me wrong.  I’m under no delusions as to the time, effort, cost, logistics, etc. that would be involved in this sort of undertaking.  I understand the challenges.  But crazier things have happened than a bunch of like-minded people getting together to learn, laugh, and enjoy one another. 

 In fact, it happens everyday.  
Are you with me? Thoughts?  Ideas?  Help???

  5. Girl I am so in on this one. I will start a penny jar and save save save. It will be so worth it just hanging out with all of you girls. I will make sure to wear my best pj's too! It will be the best slumber party ever!!! Im already thinking about things I would love to share…oh the ideas in my little brain…smiles~

  7. Sorry I'm so late on this. My beloved Macbook is having some CRAZY malfunctions, and unless it gets fixed quickly, I'll have to invest in a new one. I think this is a fabulous idea, and I'd be all over that sh*t!! Pure heaven. The local thrift stores would love it so much that they'd sponsor us for every remaining year, because their inventory would be gone! FYI-In the odd event that you want to respond JUST to me, email me to my gmail since I get it on my phone. Oooh, you can be the President of the HCC!!!!

  8. Oh…I am soooo there! They have scrapbook retreats all the time, I say…"why limit it to scrapbooking?" (Really, I just said that 🙂 and two years is plenty of time to get stuff together, ooohhh my wheels are turning already!

  10. These things CAN be done…. I am an adoptive mommy, and there are groups that meet up all over the country….All kinds of Guatoberfests and Guatemama meetings….Hotels are usually generous about giving discounts at hotels and use of their conference rooms for meetings and get togethers. You could get everyone a rate and then charge a small fee for administrative costs…maybe a tshirt?? It would be tons of fun!

    I love this idea. In fact, when I read your comment (or did you write it in a blog post??) about wanting to create a blog conference like this, I started wondering what might be involved in making it happen. I'm the world's worst event planner, but I do believe in dreaming big!

  23. What a wonderful idea! I've thought the same thing; it would be so cool if I could actually meet "you guys" in person. It's like, you read and read so much about a person and their life, but yet you really don't know them. My dream was a little different in that I was imagining a thrift shopping lovers convention, but then I realized that would be the same thing as going to flea market-LOL!
