* sorry, your son =/ eek!
I just want to say that that video was adorable and your daughter did a great job. Adorable. Thanks for keeping it real and being a good mamma 😉
Your video was great and your camera man rocks! Love it.
Ever since I first read this post, I’ve wanted to do board and batten with hooks in our tiny back entry. I have finally finished, along with adding some lockers. Thanks for inspiring me! If you’re interested in the result, I’ve posted about it here: http://toaprettylife.blogspot.com/2011/09/mudroom-lockersready-for-accessorizing.html
I am now in love with my new mudroom.
You're absolutely brilliant! 🙂
The drill tutorial was the best. Your little guy is awesome. So cute. Beautiful mudroom.
Functional and pretty! What a beautiful little corner of your home. (and I love those hooks!)
Beth, it looks fantastic and I *love* the video with your sweet boy. Drills are friends 🙂
And I realized as I hit "publish" that I didn't comment on your "mud room". Love it love it love it! We did B&B in our Master and I love the look. And I might have to figure out how I can add those hooks somewhere in my house….hmmmm…. :0)
I've been reading your blog for about a year now and I have to say I love it! But today – you made me comment! I just LOVED how your son did your video with you! I am one who isn't afraid of tools (too much!) so I loved the basics of your video – but really – you got yourself a little video guy for sure!!! Thanks for sharing!
I love this! I blogged about it here:http://holy-craft.blogspot.com/2011/02/few-of-my-favorite-things.html
Head over heals girl!!! I love that shelf too! I just finished the board and batten in my master if you want to come check it out at http://www.onenuttygirl.com. I'm addicted. Looking at leftover wood wondering what is next!!!
I love your tutorials, but I LOVE the fact that your son does the filming…so much fun~
Thanks for sharing!
Your mudroom space looks wonderful! The way you added the additional horizontal board was pure genius. The hooks really look like they belong there. To tell the truth, though, I think that extra horizontal board would look really good even if it didn't serve the hook-holding purpose. You have the look of cool old-house wainscoting there.
I have those same hooks in my mudroom area. They are great, aren't they? But mine are just attached to a 1×6 board–they don't nearly as cool as yours. Maybe I'll take some inspiration from you and re-do this area in my house!
OH. MY. GOODNESS!
Everything about this post was AWESOME!
Love the mudroom, love your tutorial, LOVE THAT LITTLE ASHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
😀
Its a fabulous update, Beth, looks marvelous! I am loving the sand dollars and starfish accents, very sweet! I think best of all was the informative tutorial, and your son Asher did an EXCELLENT job, especially for only being 6 years old! He's quite good with that camera!
Best,
Kimberly
Beautiful! I love the new crish, fresh look! And, that kiddo of yours? Precious! Thanks for sharing this amazing reveal! *Becca*

It's so worth waiting to do something to get it just right. We've done so many things and wished they were different in hindsight. Glad this worked for you. It look fantastic. Everyone should have staged pictures of spaces in their home. Actually, maybe I'll take some, and post them around my home as a hint to my family of what it should look like lol.
Cheers

LOL! Adorable camera man. He did a great job! I tend to avoid my husbands tools…but maybe I'll try now! Thanks for the inspiration!
I love it
Beth,
You do an awesome job with your tutorials! I love it….BUT….that little guy of yours is just precious and I think he has found his calling as a cameraman! He is the cutest! Can I borrow him for a week or two? Absolutely adorable!
Tanya
i love me some power tools… you look soo cute and now i am completely in love with your son! he is so sweet!!!
ok… so i know how to drill and to the drill bit and all of that…. BUT i can not get anything even! if i were hanging those hooks they would be in a zig zag.. or pictures will never be even or if i am hanging a mirror with two hooky pieces on the back the mirror is always cockeyed (weird word when i see it on the screen hmm)…. so tutorial for making us straight?????????
thanks love
This looks great. I had the same realization in the area I wanted to make a mud room too. It's the laundry room, right when you come in from the garage. I found that we all don't fit in there. We end up coming into the kitchen to take off our shoes and coats and then taking them to the laundry room.
So, I never did make a plan.
I love how your mudroom area turned out. I want my whole house to have board and batten!
So cute!!!
That looks FANTASTIC! I feel like I'm looking at a pic in the PB catalog. And the tutorial is great – "good job" to the camera man! I really like how high your base boards are – did you add to them or were they like that already? You are really good B and B, I always like to see your posts.
Beth, Your new space is wonderful! It looks like something in a Pottery Barn catalog.
Hugs,
Sherry
Very nice, Beth!! And cute for the boys to love, too. I like the hooks…Home Depot always amazes me!
I love the video, I have to admit I am afraid of power tools but really, what can happen with a drill?! ;-D
XO,
Jane
That is such a cute area! Perfect for all of your coats and bags. It just screams 'charm'! 🙂
I love it Beth! It looks absolutely FABULOUS!
Yay for the 'Not really a mudroom, mudroom makeover'!!! 🙂 It turned out really nice!
Too cute!!! Love the camera man too! He did a great job!
The new space looks FABULOUS!! I love it!
Love the use of this space, Beth. I have those hooks in my kids' bathroom for towels– they have an awesome finish and are very substantial, too. Cool stuff!
I love it Beth!! Soooooo jealous!! I have a little nook by the back door that i want to transform into something like this. Thanks for the inspiration girl! 🙂
Smart thinking as always! It looks fabulous! I love that little numbered board. Adorable!

Hey Beth one more thing… Nothing like child labor…LOL.. cute video
What a sweet little one .
Pattie
Beth great mudroom you did an amazing job, love the iron hooks and the color you picked.

Give that cameraman a raise! Cute video. You didn't too bad yourself. lol. Everything looks perfect.
It looks absolutely fabulous. I love the wall treatment and the hooks are perect. I know you will really enjoy it. The tutorial was great too. Hugs, Marty
Thanks everyone! The color on the walls is Sherwin Williams Rattan. The bag was made for me by Kellie from Bag Full of Posies on etsy.
Nice job..looks beautiful. Gets me inspired for my own and love that tote bag looks like its jute material..really great looking!
Beautiful mudroom/entry, and I LOVE your A 2 Z bag. Did you make it yourself????
I can't wait to have my own home. I would love to have a mud room like this, or at least somewhere to hand bags and jackets when we come in the door. Awesome job!
Super good job, Asher!!!!!
Your little mud "room" looks so cute and functional. I forgot to say yesterday how fabulous your board and batten looks!!! Great job, Beth. And great idea to have a drill tutorial. Anyone who doesn't have one, seriously needs one and will find out how easy they make diy projects. I use mine all the time.
I would love to find out what the paint color is on the walls. This room is just perfect!
Beth it looks great, You made very good use of such a small space, Kudos to YOU!!! KS
Your mudroom looks great! Love it. 🙂
I love the abundance of hooks. You can never have enough of those.
The video was great too. The camera man was adorable. 🙂
My 9 year old just filmed something for me the other day. Oh, bloggy children…
🙂
xoxo
Love it! The mudroom turned out terrific! I especially love how you placed the second horizontal board for more hooks vs a more traditional board and batten treatment. Super functional!
And of course little Asher was the ultimate cameraman again. I think all your videos should use him as the videographer. His little voice is just so darn cute and I'm sure he's learning all the DIY tricks along with your readers. Thanks for sharing.
Oh it turned out so nice! I can't wait to see how the other closet side turns out. You always do everything with such style! LOVE IT!
i had asked my husband to move a set of hooks from the kitchen into the laundry room oh.. about a month ago. i was waiting for him to do it so i could take some blogging pictures! anyhoo – i got tired of waiting so i whipped out his dewalt and yelled down the hall "who needs a man?!" and gunned it a couple of times. and then i moved the darn thing myself. so i guess you could say im not scared of threatening the use of the power tools but i was a little nervous to actually put the words in action. i am happy to report all is well except for the two holes left in the wall where the hooks were! 🙂 love the board and batten/mudroom. it looks wonderful! 🙂
That video made me smile. I think Asher did a great job assisting you!
And the mudroom looks great!
It looks fabulous! Straight out of a magazine… nice job!
Wish I had room for a mud room, we have the tiniest hallway that has enough room (barely) for some hooks, no room for shelves or benches or anything cute. Darn. 😉
I love it! Looks terrific! The video is great, too! You do so well! I tried to film a clip for my blog and when I played it back, I realized how much of a hick I sounded like and deleted it! Anyway, thanks for the tutorial =0)
wow.
i have major envy going on, you know…i have those yellow walls. so tired of them. i'm longing for some white/linen-ish colors to come my way sometime soon.
your little mud room is perfect. i must say i smiled when i saw that bag too. 😉
thanks.
it all looks wonderful, beth!
HAPPY WEDNESDAY!
kellie
What a cute video! We have a tiny mud room/back entry. I've thought about doing board and batten with hooks, but then I worried that my kids wouldn't be able to reach them. I like the look of having an extra horizontal piece, and I like the height you chose and the shelf at the top. I'll have to show this post to my husband. Thanks!
Beth – this turned out so good – I just love it – congrats on your new mud "room"/area!
I love this! It is so pretty and welcoming. And I think I have the exact same hooks in my entryway too!
You made that little space so functional and cute! You know… Ninja Turtle backpacks and yellow coats are your way of life and that is cute too! Now here in our house, it is Disney princess backpack and pink or purple coat with absolutely no buttons! That is how we roll!
{HEARTS} This looks so great! I miss our mudroom….it was only of the only good things our rental had going for it.
I love it! I also love the starfish and sand dollars. Thanks for the inspiration. Planning a redo soon.
I love it Beth! It looks terrific! I need more hooks in our mudroom area, so I may have to run to Home Depot! Have a wonderful day! Angie xo
