Christmas Home Tour {Part 1}

Hi everyone! I’m honored to be one of the home’s kicking off Just a Girl’s week-long Holiday Home Tour. Today I’m excited to share Part 1 of my tour! Yes. There was too much Christmas going on over here to pack into just ONE home tour. 🙂 If you are visiting from Kevin & Amanda, welcome and come on in.

Christmas door

I went for a very neutral and au naturel theme this year. I LOVE how my porch turned out this year. So much so that it will be getting an entire post dedicated to it, but in the meantime here is a little sneak peek.

Christmas porch

For those of you who might be new to my blog, we live in the city in an urban row home that we renovated 7 years ago. Our home is long and tall with a VERY open floor concept on the first level-which can make decorating “rooms” a challenge. The first room to greet you after the double entryway is the dining room. This room always has the honor of housing our main Christmas tree each year.

If you follow me on Facebook, then you know the drama that ensued with this tree over the weekend. If you don’t follow me, click on the link to find out the scoop! My tree is a shadow of it’s former self but still very pretty.

I found the beautiful wrapping paper at Target and it helped to inspire my Christmas theme this year.

But how rude of me! Let me offer you a warm beverage before we move on. Feel free to help yourself to a drink at the coffee bar cart with my new Nespresso machine. The bar cart is a relatively new addition, and I have to say I am loving it! It’s a lot of fun to have cocktail hour–at all ours of the day. 🙂

Christmas foyer

And here is our little mudroom where you can hang your coat. Or, if you are my kids, you can get yelled at for going anywhere near this space before I have a chance to shoot it! In case you are wondering, our mudroom never looks this. Typically it’s piled with shoes, backpacks, coats, and an explosion of gloves, hats, and scarves. For now those are all crammed into the front entryway closet so that momma can have her idyllic mudroom–sans mud. It looked like this for just a few short hours, but at least I have the pictures to prove it!

The cute oversized ornaments on the top shelf are a recent DIY that you can find out how to make for yourself here. They are very easy and relatively inexpensive to make!

Little Pippin, one of my two Pomeranians, laid down and posed for me while I was shooting this space. He is the sweetest with his little bespeckled paws that remind me of freckles. I just had to include him for you!

In the center of my hooks, I placed a little boxwood wreath with my Walmart mittens and handmade Merry Christmas sign. It makes for a sweet and easy decoration.

Can you believe that my vintage sled was actually rescued from my neighbors trash heap? I love pulling it out each year and using it as a decoration.

Neutral Christmas Mudroom

Our family celebrates Christmas morning together with a delicious brunch in the dining room. I like to style the table for the occasion in advance so that I can enjoy looking at it.

Gold Christmas Dining Room

I used silver and gold decorations that I had on hand and mixed and matched items I already owned to create a simple, yet beautiful, tablescape.

The table runner is a DIY project and is actually spray painted! You can see the full tutorial on how to make a painted table runner here.

The little feather name tags were found at Target in the dollar spot. I’ve seen a lot of bloggers featuring them this year, so we all must have gravitated towards them. At the time of purchase, I had no idea how I would use them, but they go perfectly with my table!

One more picture of the proud deer and Nespresso bar cart before we move on. The deer head is a semi-DIY. You can learn how to make your own here.

I have been wanting to do a noel mantel for a few years now and decided this year would be the year! I purchased the large cardboard letters from Joann craft store and covered them with faux bois wrapping paper. The oversized snowflake is from Marshalls and is actually a candle holder.

If you want to know How to Make a DIY Tea Light Log, I have you covered! I made that log last year and enjoy it as a home accessory year round.

For my little white Christmas tree, I thought it would be fun to carry over the woodland glam theme. I loaded the tree with my white owls and mini-disco balls. This is my boys favorite decoration!

For the topper, I simply added some silver-spray-painted sticks and an owl. Aren’t they cute?

This area makes for a very cozy reading nook by the fire and is where I can often be found in the evenings.

As you look back, you can see the living room and my new rug from RugsUSA.com. I LOVE this rug! Almost every rug in my home has been purchased from RugsUSA.com. You can’t beat there 75% off sales with free shipping. This rug is the Velvet Trellis Rug in Light Grey. You can click on the link to be taken to the product. RugsUSA gave me this rug to review on my blog and I let them know I’d be featuring it in my Christmas home tour.

My coffee table is styled very simply this year with just a disco ball under a cloche from Birch Lane.

The end table is also styled simply with just a few natural and silver embellishments.

Watching television just got a whole lot more festive around here! I added some mini trees, fresh garland, and a few gold reindeer.

  1. What a lovely home. Very beautifully designed and decorated. By far the best home show I’ve seen… and that was only the first part.

  2. I’m so sorry to hear about your tree, but honestly I would never be able to tell that it took a dive. Love that little woodland tree with the owls and I hadn’t seen the Target feathers before. Thanks for opening your home to us.

    • Thanks Cassie! And thanks for taking the time to comment. I know there are so many house tours to get through! I appreciate it. 🙂

  3. Holy cow! This is all so gorgeous. I can’t stand it. I adore the table you set and the mudroom entry is so beautiful. Those oversized ornaments were such a cute idea. Now about that cocktail you were offering . . .

  5. Beth,
Your home is so tranquil and inviting, including your Lil pom!
Everything is so beautiful especially love the dining room table. Can’t wait to see part 2!
    Have a joyous Holiday Season!

  6. Loving your color scheme! Cool & crisp but still cozy and all the trendy elements of the season done so tastefully! Enjoy your beautiful, holiday oasis! xo

  7. It’s gorgeous!! I do bright colors for Christmas, but I’m planning on doing neutral colors for some winter decor in January.

    • Thank you Jenny! I did all red and white last year and have to admit that I’m missing some of that color this year but love to mix things up.

  8. It is all absolutely gorgeous, Beth! I cannot believe your neighbor almost threw away that old sled! Shameful! 😉 Your dining room table is my favorite. I can’t wait to see the rest! I can’t even believe there is MORE. You’re Wonder Woman.

  9. Love what you have done, your mud room is so beautiful! What is the circle garland on the tree made out of?

  10. Wow, everything is seriously incredible! You can’t even tell what happened to your poor tree. I dropped mine too Saturday trying to lift it into a bucket (lol) but luckily I have no fragile ornaments 🙂 Thank you for the inspiration, it really looks amazing!

  11. Beth, your home is over the-top magical and beautiful! I am dreaming and imagining that we are sitting there this morning chatting like old friends and drinking coffee together as we chat about decor and DIY projects together. You are awesome and have an amazing talent/gift! Merry CHRISTMAS!

    • That would be lovely Denise! Thank you so much for your sweet comment. 🙂 Merry Christmas to you!

  12. It’s beautiful Beth. Your tree is very beautiful but I’m sorry you lost so many of your ornaments this weekend. 🙁 I love the NOEL above your fireplace.

    Anna 🙂

    • Thank you Anna! Yes, it was a major bummer. This tree seems to have a death wish this year. Things keep falling off and shattering! It’s freaking out my poor poms.

    • I just printed it out on some photo paper in landscape, cut the strip, folded a bit on each side of the word, and then cut a triangle out of each end. Does that make sense? So much easier to show than explain. 🙂

  13. Wow Beth,
I just love the lightness of your home. It is perfectly lovely. Nice sectional in white. I am thinking about upgrading to one myself. Wishing you and your family a Joyous Holiday.

  14. What a lovely, lovely home, and how beautifully you have decorated for the holidays! I love your oversize ornaments, and your tablescape with the feather place cards!

  15. Your home is beautiful and very calming! I truly appreciate the time and stress it takes to make your home look this picture perfect. Be proud of it!! I love those big ornaments in the mudroom!

  16. Everything here is just so beautiful! You have given us inspiration in every photo! Love your sweet little dog, and all of your gorgeous styling. I’m finishing up our holiday décor in the next two days and this will give me the oomph that I needed 🙂 Merry Christmas to you and your sweet family, xoxoxo, Andrea

    • Aw, Andrea, maybe this is partly due to my lack of sleep over the past several days but your comment made me tear-up. Thank you! Blessings on you this Christmas!
