Front Porch Flowers

I finished planting my front porch and thought you might like to see it!  I bought all of my flowers at Walmart this year out of sheer laziness.  I also decided to just stick with my trusty impatiens in the front instead of trying something more exotic.  I love baskets overflowing with different abundant colors and plants, but I just don’t have that kind of talent to keep them alive!  We’ll see how my hanging baskets fair.

The hanging baskets were the perfect find for this spot.  I didn’t even have to mix the flowers.  They came ready to be transplanted into my baskets!  I love it when gardening is easy :).

My home has these two old iron gates covering my basement widows.  I love them and thought you might too.
The lantern is from Ikea and is filled with some faux green apples.  My cushions were out all winter and faired nicely.  The paisley chair cushions came from Gabriel Brothers and I made the throw pillows.

Thanks for stopping by and touring my porch.  If you’re ever in the area, come on over and we’ll chat on my front porch and watch the baby finches that are nesting in the corner.  It’s a delightful little spot to people watch (and baby bird watch)!

  1. Beth, it looks so inviting. A spring morn, cup of flavored coffee, sitting in a rocker with a friend in the other…nice

  2. it cracks me up when you say you don't do flowers well. HA!
everything you touch turns to gold. or in this situation turns to a bloom.

    xo

  14. I'd love to come sit and chat on your beautiful front porch Beth! It's all gorgeous!

  15. I LOVE putting those lush green hanging ferns on my front porch. I probably won't do it this year because they always die too. I've killed SOOO many plants. They are so hard to water all the way up there. Do you know of any way to water them automatically? I've been trying to think of something for years to set up so that all I had to do to water my garden was to turn on the hose.

The hanging plants are the problem.

  16. Things are looking very spring-like on your front porch! Beautiful flowers…and I love that iron gate!

  17. Oh if only I could come over and sit on that lovely porch with you.
I am sure we would have a ball!

  18. Beautiful!

I have to wait a few weeks too. We are expecting frost this week.

  19. What a great little spot to sit and chat and people watch, I love it! Your flowers are gorgeous and the apples give a little pop! Love what you've done!

Still waiting another 2 weeks for our flowers, we might have another frost so we need to be safe then sorry!

  20. That looks amazing!
Now I should really get out and get my front porch done!

  21. I am jealous….I love your porch! I can just imagine sitting and chatting with friends. It is beautiful!

  22. Yes. I love impatiens too! They are hardy and made for the gardener who is…well – impatient. 🙂

Very pretty porch. You should be proud.

  23. Your porch looks beautiful! Do you sit out there often?

You've mentioned a number of things that you bought at Gabriel Bros. Is that just a local store, or is it a chain? Seems that you get some great bargains there!

  24. Beth,

Look lovely. You would never know that you are not an expert green thumb. Hope you can enjoy your porch today. I love our front porch.

  25. my "tried and true" are begonias, but this year we did try a few more exotic plants. Your baskets look fab! You're so lucky, or perhaps a great shopper, to find them planted as you want them!

  27. I love them Beth! The rod iron on the basement windows is very cool! I am loving the hanging flower baskets and your choice of red really stands out! So pretty:)!~
