Ikea Mirror Transformed

<span class=ikeamirror2″>
Last week, I showed you my special woodburned bookcase.  Many of you liked it, but also expressed that it looked like way too much work to replicate.  Well, here is another, simpler, more manageable project that any of you can do.  Yes, ANY of you.  All you need is some imagination, a cheap mirror, like this $2.99 Ikea mirror made out of pine, and a woodburner which you can find at any craft store.

This project was specially made for some dear friends.  My husband and I did this project together.  I dreamed up the words, we both came up with the general design, he drew and burned, and I painted.  It was so much fun!  If you are artistically challenged in the drawing department (and aren’t fortunate enough to have an artistic hubby like I am), I would recommend using printed computer images and graphite paper to trace on your images.  When painting, use a very small paintbrush around the words.  If some paint seeps into the crevices, don’t stress.  You can go back over it with a fine-tipped Sharpie to emphasize the lettering.  Top it all off with a few glazes of polyurethane and you have yourself one special, and inexpensive gift!
