Okay, I am just being dramatic because I liked the sound of the title. There is nothing evil about our home’s “twin” unless you count the covetousness in my heart. Do you guys even remember this project? No, why would you? I asked for your input on exterior colors over a year ago now! Well, to refresh your memory you can look at the Flip That House post.
I had the incredible privilege (thank you Jason & Mandy) of getting PAID to design the floor plan, design the kitchen, pick the cabinets, pick the colors, choose the light fixtures, choose the hardware, shop for the vanities, and hand shop for the mirrors and bathroom fixtures of this gorgeous home. The friend I was working for is the one who completed our own home and he really didn’t need my help. His company has a long history of producing gorgeous homes (all by themselves..imagine that), but he knew I’d enjoy the challenge! He was right. What was so great about doing this project is that I was able to work out some of the kinks of our own home, and I absolutely LOVE the finished product. In fact, I would gladly move next door today; however, our soon-to-be neighbors might not appreciate that. The home sold before it was even listed. So, I know some of you nosey-noseys wonder how much a place like this lists for. Well…it was slightly under 200K. Yes, these guys got a sweet deal!
I am so excited to share with you the “Befores and Afters” so you can finally appreciate the magic behind these rehabs! We never got to see our own home with all the dirt and filth in it but we hear the horror stories on the street. Apparently our home was the WORST on the block. (Can you feel the pride?) When we put a contract on our home it had already been completely gutted so we were “spared” the horror. However, I would have loved to have seen it in all of its defiled glory and been able to document its transformation the way I was able to document our neighbor’s home. To be truly horrified and get a full feel of the filth of this home in its “Before” state, be sure to click on the 360* pics at the bottom of the link. My mom and sister were able to see this place as a “Before” and we were all scared to walk through it. It was warm and sunny outside but cold, dank, musty and downright-creepy inside! We weren’t sure the floors would hold us they were so wet and moldy. Needless to say, it was nasty.
Without further ado, please enjoy the magic and feel free to ooooooo and aaaahhhhh in my comment section! I’d love some feedback. Also, you may want to pause the pictures in the slide show because they move rather quickly and I don’t want you to miss a thing.

Wow. Amazing how a little TLC can transform a property. Suddenly, a house that you can’t imagine living in for 1 week much less several years, has so much appeal.
That is incredible. Simply gorgeous! We had that same granite in our house and I LOOOOVED it. It doesn't show anything. I had to feel along the counter for what needed to be clean. You did a really great job. I can't wait to have my own house again that I can make my own! Boo-hoo!!
Wow that is amazing! Worthy of TLC and tears.
Isn’t it just extra ironic when your evil twin ends up being an ugly duckling – and after much sweat equity turns into a beautiful, graceful, deserving-of-envy swan?!!? At least you can claim responsibility for a good portion of her stunning beauty! I can totally see why you’re so proud – she was beyond grotesque before! But I’ll have to admit, that without the presence of your personalization (such as gilded oversize utensils), I like (what I’ve seen so far of) yours better. I DO think that’s just because your decorating style is so amazing on top of the fabulous surroundings. So, make sure that I never get to know your new neighbors (or that they have hideous possessions), and I’ll always think that you are the more beautiful twin. 🙂
Thanks Michaela! I actually just copied some of the elements in our own master bath for the “evil twin”. The baby chandeliers are from Lowes and are fairly inexpensive. I love chandeliers and would use them as light fixtures in every room if I could.
The evil twin is evil no more! I can hardly believe the transformation that house has unergone! wow! I want to live in it! Loved it – well done Beth for having a part in that! I love the light fixture in the 3rd floor bathrooom – where did you get it from??
