I was invited to the pre-opening of the new Ballard Designs store at King of Prussia Mall, and I thought you might like to come along for some window shopping! Up until now, Ballard has predominantly been a catalog shop so the opening of stores is a big step for them. Several years ago, I had the opportunity to tour Ballard Designs headquarters in Atlanta for a blogger event. I’ve also worked with Ballard as a sponsor for the Haven Conference. It has been over a year since I’ve last seen my friends at Ballard, so I was excited to be able to congratulate them in person on their store opening success!
The store is absolutely gorgeous and really brings the catalog to life. I tried to capture each vignette for you, but I only brought my iPhone along so please excuse the poorer quality pics. Let’s begin our tour!
This little office space was one of my favorites. I love the setup with the double-sided desk nestled between two bookshelves. My husband and I like to work near each other on our laptops and this arrangement would be perfect for us. I am definitely pinning this idea for the future!
The entire store was decked out for Christmas with trees matching the theme and mood of each “room”. It was easy to glean inspiration from each styled space! It’s difficult to make out in this picture but each place setting in this dining room was decorated with a giant wishbone—such a cute idea for Thanksgiving!
As I walked through the store, I noticed that velvet was everywhere! I kept petting the furnishings as I passed them. 🙂
The cow-skin rug, faux fur throw, and velveteen toss pillows create a luxuriously elegant yet cozy feel. I also like the combination of mixed metallics with the rustic wood.
We move on to a living room space with more gorgeous velvet! Blue and white is traditional and classic, but it has definitely seen a trending resurgence this year.
I love the idea of doing an entire tree in blue and white china ornaments. Isn’t this lovely?
Here is another look at the other side of this space. You can see that peacock blue is hot right now as well.
Next, we walk to another styled dining space. I’ve loved this gray gingham upholstered bench for years now! The gray gingham is a staple fabric at Ballard and always looks French Country fresh.
This elegant gold tablescape with Bunny Williams dishware was just beautiful! I loved the magnolia leaf garland and gold sparkly reindeer.
Here is a view of the entire table. If you want an elegantly chic Christmas table, then consider going with a white, gold, and green color palette! You just can’t go wrong with the simplistic beauty of these colors.
This styled office space with gallery wall was fun. I liked the quirky chalkboard pig. 🙂
Ballard had a few styled beds in the store that looked comfy enough to crawl right into. I woke up rather early that morning to get to the store on time for their blogger breakfast, so the temptation was real! 😉
The Mr. & Mrs. pillow covers on this bed were cute and would make a fun wedding or anniversary gift.
I forgot to capture the walls of gorgeous art, but I did grab a snapshot of the mirrors for you. I would love to have this as a display at the end of my hallway.
Our next stop in the store is a styled living room done in black & white with red accents. I love the sassy dalmation print toss pillows done with a red back!
Our last stop on the tour is this neutral living space with gorgeous sectional! This space is actually the first thing that greeted us as we entered and I was drawn to its understated elegance.
And that completes everything I was able to take a picture of between drinking bellinis, eating a yummy breakfast, and chatting with Eddie Ross, Jaithan Kochar, blogger friends, and the Ballard Designs staff! I hope you enjoyed window shopping with me. If you have a chance to pop into the store for yourself, I highly recommend doing so. Ballard let me know that they will also be opening a store at Tysons Corner in D.C. in the spring. I’m not sure if other stores are on the docket for this year or not, but I hope so.
So what was your favorite space? I’d love to hear from you if you’re feeling chatty. 🙂
I would love to tour that store…I have always pouring through their catalogues! I love how they paired what I always thought of as formal velvet furniture with wood and metal. The combination is beautiful.
I have always loved Ballards and have ordered a number of things from their catalog over the years. But being able to shop in a store would be fabulous! Thanks for the tour!
Thanks for stopping by Jane! 🙂
I just saw on Instagram that they are opening that store and I am so excited! I hope they come to NJ soon! King of Prussia mall is probably an hour and a half from me so I am hoping for one closer. But I will probably head down there one of these days anyway…roadtrip!! So exciting! I love their products!

It is an hour and a half away from me as well so it definitely won’t be a frequent trip. But I love visiting KOP for some Christmas shopping so this worked out perfectly! 🙂 I hope the stores prove successful so that they are able to branch out more.
