Create a no-fuss, gorgeous, casual blue and white Thanksgiving table. I’ll show you how to style your table and yourself for Thanksgiving quickly, beautifully, and affordably using products from Stein Mart.
Thanksgiving/Friendsgiving is right around the corner and if you haven’t begun planning your table decor, never fear. Procrastinators are always welcome here! I have some great table styling tips to share with you that can be pulled off last minute. I love the challenge of creating beautifully styled spaces quickly, easily, and affordably, so when Stein Mart asked if I would be willing to style myself and my table for Thanksgiving on a tight budget, I decided to turn it into a game. Could I run to my local Stein Mart and find plates, dishware, home decor accessories, a dress, and jewelry in just a few hours and on a tight budget of $200? And could I also have it all looking gorgeous and pulled together in that brief amount of time? The answer is yes, it can be done. I did it, and I will show you step-by-step how you can too!
Casual Blue and White Thanksgiving Table:
How to Affordably Style Yourself and Your Table for Thanksgiving
Step 1: Browse the dishes available at Stein Mart and choose a color scheme.
I like to think outside the box when decorating and always enjoy using non-traditional colors for the holidays. The Indigold Dinnerware and Serveware Collection include gorgeous blue and gold pieces that look autumnal when paired with the right accessories but can also be used year round. Browse the dishes at your local Stein Mart, or online at steinmart.com and choose dishes within a color palette that you know you can easily work with. I knew I had blue and white accessories at home that would supplement the look I was going for.
Step 2: Mix and match your dishware from different collections for a more eclectic look.
This tip is a matter of personal preference, but it’s definitely worth including! When decorating and styling a table, I prefer a look that appears to be pulled together over time using unique pieces that aren’t too “matchy matchy”. I will often use different plates and placemats at the heads of the table and purchase pieces from a variety of dishware collections.
For example, at the head of the table I used the Indigold Feather Dessert Plates and love the touch of fall that the feathers add to the mix. I had the placemats, chargers, and napkins on hand and again mixed and matched the look at the heads of the table. This is an easy trick to implement to add a bit more interest to your tablescape.
The cute “Eat” script on the dinner plates lend an unexpected touch of quirk to each setting! They are from the American Atelier Casual Conversation Dinnerware collection which coordinates perfectly with the Indigold Dinnerware and Serveware Collection.
Step 3: Use colored glassware to add a pop of color to the table.
I was thrilled to find these gorgeous, vintage-inspired Fleur de Lis 8 oz goblets! My mother inherited a similar set from my grandmother, and I’ve always admired them. Using colored drinkware is a fabulous way to accessorize your table and add an additional pop of color.
Step 3: Keep the Thanksgiving centerpiece elegant yet simple.
If you are short on time, skip the elaborate flower arrangements and think simple. I like to create what I call a “live table runner” on my table using natural elements from the outdoors, or from the produce section of the grocery store. Here I’ve used two wheat bundles with ribbon, some grocery store pumpkins and greenery, and a few tealights from my stash to create this beautiful centerpiece. I tied some coordinating blue ribbon around the bundles to better match my decor. The look is elegant yet simple, and more importantly it took less than five minutes to create!
Step 4: Don’t forget to style yourself!
You’ve taken the time to make the table look lovely, so don’t forget to splurge on a Thanksgiving outfit for yourself! Stein Mart has incredible social wear for every occasion this holiday season. I wanted something versatile that paired well with my casual blue and white Thanksgiving theme. I chose the Cable Knit Off the Shoulder Dress by Jessica H in size medium. It’s a comfortable sweater dress that is cozy, comfy, and perfect for fall!
I paired the dress with over-the-knee boots from my closet and Zevar by Trèska earrings and necklace from Stein Mart. For similar boots, you might want to check out Stein Mart’s Jukebox Boot.
