A few days ago, I posted on how you can make your own easy marshmallow pumpkin peeps. Yesterday, while I was in the shower, my boys broke into the peeps container and ate them…all. Needless to say, they were in BIG trouble. Also before you get the wrong idea about me, I’m quite a health freak (when it comes to my kids at least). A has Asperger’s which we manage incredibly well with “sauce”, raw milk, and a strict diet. Z has Celiac Disease and a milk allergy which we manage with rice milk and a strict gluten-free diet. After the tears, threats, time-outs, and we’re-so-sorry-Mommy-we’ll-never-do-it-again‘s, I decided to make-up by creating a special morning snack. Again, out came the tools I had to work with and: Commence Creativity!
All of my ideas here are a conglomerate of things I’ve seen over the years. Seriously not sure who to give credit to, so just know that none of these creative food ideas are “mine”. The strawberry mice have a cut twizzler tail, almond ears, raisin nose, and black food coloring dots for eyes.
Sorry for the horrible picture below, but our Monster Mouth is made from apple slices with peanut butter “glue”, cereal teeth, and raisin eyes.
The Boo-nanners are simply bananas with raisin eyes and food coloring dots for mouths.

The cute boys below in matching batman p.j.’s are mine :). And literally said, “Oh thank you, thank you Mommy,” when presented with their snack.
I forgive you my little sugar-stealers. And if you sneak in and steal more of this snack while I’m in the shower, I won’t even be angry! Promise.

That is so clever. I have a son who has Asperger's too and he is now 22. And I have gluten allergies so I can feel for you!! (I now put gluten free recipes on my recipe blog–it has some recipes on it before I found out what was causing my problems!)
My son has compensated over the years by sheer perseverence; he has amazed me. He has almost finished college, but he has one class holding him up for his degree. He flunked it 3 times–it is a computer language course that he has to have (unlike some asperger kids he could never do math–his area of expertise was always history and politics—you can imagine our dinner conversations!)…we had to help him all the way through school. He managed to get into college by skipping the SAT and taking the AST (hhmm is that what it is called? I forget now! ) Anyways he substituted the computer for the math requirement ….he did fine in the first course but the second one is another story. Finally we realized his bro works for microsoft and we sent him out there this summer to get tutored by him!! This has helped so much. His F's had all been in the 20's and he is now getting an A so far!! He has to drive 5 hours 3 days a week to this class because they require him to complete his last course there!!! I am so proud of him!! (sorry about running on!!)

So cute – my youngest has a wheat allergy, as well as an egg and peanut allergy, so we are super strict about food in our home. We'll have to swap gluten-free tips!

Because I like bananas so much and have no 'little' ones any more …I may just have to make me a BOOnaner anyway! LOL

I am not sure which I think is cuter! The banana ghosts or the mice! So very cute!

Chrissy, You can use maraschino cherry stems for the tails. I would have done that if I had them. We were given a trillion free packs of Twizzlers at an outdoor movie at Messiah. Gross. Who wants to eat a nasty Twizzler? My kids do…of course.

Very cute. Can't imagine what kind of sugar-high they had to come down from after those peeps! Love the bananas and the strawberries. Might have to figure out a way to make them sans twizzlers.
