Hot Cocoa Mix Recipe Jar Gift with Free Christmas Printable
I love to drink hot cocoa all fall and winter long! I mix it with my coffee to create a mocha, or with some Bailey’s to make a dessert beverage, and sometimes just with water to make hot chocolate. While store bought mix is fine and does the trick, I prefer the taste of homemade cocoa! You can create a big batch of this hot cocoa recipe to enjoy, or to gift.
I’ve also included adorable watercolor wreath printables (for personal use only) so that you can easily make your own hot cocoa mix jar gifts. The gorgeous watercolor wreath is by Kelly Sikkema and can be downloaded here.
You can also print these wreath tags to simply use on Christmas gifts! Enjoy!

Hot Cocoa Mix Recipe
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (I prefer Ghiradelli’s
.)
- 2 1/2 cups powdered creamer
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoons cornstarch
- 1 pinch ground cayenne pepper
- Hot water to serve
- Mix all of the dry ingredients (numbers 1-6) in a mixing bowl with a whisk. Next, use a fine mesh colander to sift all of the dry ingredients into a separate bowl. If mix does not look completely combined after sifting, sift and additional time. Store in an airtight container.
- To serve: Use 3/4 cup of mix per 10 ounces of hot water. It helps to pour a few ounces of hot water into the mix and stir to dissolve before adding the rest of the water. Top with marshmallows and enjoy!
This recipe takes quite a bit of mix to create a rich cup of cocoa. One small 8 ounce jar of mix will create approximately two cups of cocoa.

Thanks for the adorable wreath gift tags for the hot cocoa gift jars! Is the best way to do this to buy paper that is self-stick on one side to print them out on? I’m kind of new to this!
Hi Holly! So sorry that I’m just now seeing your question. You could use label paper or you can just use normal paper and after cutting out the labels use spray adhesive to attach the labels. I used some spray adhesive that I had on hand. Using a glue stick or other liquid glue may create bubbles in the labels and not work as well.
