I love this time of year so much! All of the holiday decorating, Christmas gift shopping, and holiday baking make Christmas so magical and fun; however, I also love a good holiday hack! If I can find a way to make any task easier on myself, you better believe I’m going to do it. Today I’m going to share a fantastic gingerbread house hack that allows you to create beautiful gingerbread houses that taste great, look adorable, and are easy enough for even a beginner to do!
Step 1: Buy your baking supplies on Walmart.com.
I shop at Walmart and Walmart.com weekly. I love the convenience of their free 2-day shipping for most orders $35 or more, with no membership fees required. For items I need immediately, I often shop online and pick up in the store the same day. Their low prices are fantastic and their home decor items are adorable! If you haven’t shopped at Walmart.com recently, I encourage you to give it a try! Pictured below is what I bought at Walmart.com for my holiday baking and merry making. You can click on the pictures to shop the items!
I also linked to my flocked tree for you that is in the background of my pictures. It is only $79 and looks so cute in our breakfast room! It’s a great filler tree for a bedroom or small space.
The baking pans are my must-have secret ingredient to adorable holiday baking! The Nordic Ware Platinum Pine Forest Bundt Pan and the Nordic Ware Cozy Village Pan are holiday investment pieces that will pay off for you year after year! I’ve wanted these pans for a few years now and finally decided to just go ahead and purchase them for myself. My only regret is that I didn’t buy them sooner! These are going to make bringing an impressive dessert to a holiday party a snap.
Step 3: Go ahead and cheat with a pre-made gingerbread mix.
I bought two boxes of Betty Crocker Gingerbread mix for $5.55 and had it shipped straight to my house the NEXT DAY! No running to the store involved. I prepped my pans with spray oil and flour and followed the directions on the back of the box to create the gingerbread batter.
I filled each Nordic Ware pan with one box of gingerbread mix, popped both in the oven at 350º for 27 minutes and allowed them to cool for 10 minutes before turning over. Both gingerbread cakes popped out of their forms beautifully once cool.
Step 4: Sprinkle with powdered sugar, or decorate with icing.
Once your cakes are cool, use a sifter to sprinkle a “snow shower” of powdered sugar over the tops. If you’re feeling more patient, you can also decorate with icing.
Step 4: Display your cakes on cute rustic luxe serveware.
Walmart.com has adorable home goods and kitchenwares! I picked up the Melamine Faux Mixed Material Plank Platter and it’s quickly become one of my favorite serving trays. It’s dishwasher safe, lightweight yet durable, and resists breaking, chipping, or scratching. So far we’ve served cake, cookies, cheese and crackers, and loaves of bread on this tray. I love it’s versatility and rustic charm.
I also needed some new measuring cups and couldn’t resist these adorable hammered antique copper measuring cups. They look great with my decor and make me smile when I see them in my baking drawer–so much better than the cracked plastic ones I was previously using! The marble and acacia wood cake stand is a Better Homes & Gardens for Walmart piece I’ve had and loved for years! Even the cute black and white striped bistro napkin in the photo is something I bought on Walmart.com.
Cute holiday bakeware and some premade mix is all you need to create some beautiful holiday desserts this season! I hope you feel inspired to bake up some beautiful and easy holiday magic in your kitchen.
