My grand plan to acquire free fall porch decorations does not seem to be panning out. So you can imagine how excited I was to come outside and find this beauty sitting by my front door!
Thank you sweet Mum Fairy, whoever you are! I LOVE it. How did you know that this is my all-time favorite color? I wanted to give this special lady a planter worthy of her charm, so out came the scrapbook paper and Mod Podge.
I ripped the paper into shredded sizes to my liking and then just went crazy sticking them on the planter. I didn’t really have a pattern in mind when I began. I like to let these sort of things unfold as I go. When working with Mod Podge it is good to wet the front and back of the paper and use your fingers to smoosh out any bubbles. It’s messy work, but fun.
When you are finished, don’t panic if it looks like a big gluey mess. The Mod Podge hardens and dries clear and shiny and fabulous.
I added some cute grosgrain ribbon and placed her on her pedestal for all to
steal admire. I love the way it turned out, and I love that someone cares about me enough to bless me with flowers! I’d love to thank you in person so please reveal yourself Mum Fairy? Mum’s the word???

Great idea coz I can never find the right side mum pots for the planters I have and some I don't want to empty yet. Fun to use scraps, too. I just got a pack at the TARGET dollar spot! First visit-I'll be back!

Gee Beth, I never would have thought to decorate a plain plastic pot before. This is simply a fan. Love that I can use my favorite scrapbook papers. Thanks for the inspiration! 🙂 Sue
So cute! I love the color of these mums too!! I love the way flowers make a space feel!
Great idea! Love any excuse to use some pretty paper on a project!
Love this idea and your Mum…I have had some Modge Podge for a while but never have used it…I think I will try this over the weekend…can you use this on clay pots?
Beth: I stumbled upon your blog after reading your Dad's and Mom's which I have followed faithfully for 20 mos. I found in my devotion today something that I think will be encouraging.Ps 126:3,5-6 "The Lord will do great things for me, and I will be filled with joy. I will sow in tears, then I will reap w/songs of joy. If I go out weeping, Lord, carrying seed to sow, I will return w/songs of joy, carrying sheaves w/me."Please help me be willing to sow the seed of Your Word and to water it with my tears, believing You in the midst of my pain,. If I do, You will be faithful to fill me w/ joy again. You will faithfully bring a harvest forth from my life. My suffering will not be in vain, You, the God of all grace, who called me to Your eternal glory in Christ, will restore me and make me strong, firm and steadfast after I have suffered a little while I Peter 5:10. I can't believe you and Matt have been married more than a decade (oh, do I feel OLD!) and have two cherubs to raise to little men. I LOVE YOUR BLOG! You've always had a sweet servants heart, not unlike your parents. We love them, and your entire fam. Don't know where the years have gone, but they sure do fly by!! Oh, I'm a stay-@-home grannie. Adelaide (Christian's daughter)came into our lives 2/07 when her Mama had to go back to work at 7 wks, I quit my job as a phlebotomist @ Leigh. She's now 2.5 and the joy of my days and nights. We have slumber parties once a wk when we paint our toe nails, eat raisins & talk about boys! FINALLY a female in my house. It only took 47 years, WOO-HOO…GIRL POWER!! Love, Diane Roof (troof22@aol.com)
What a great idea! I'll never throw away one of those little plastic pots again!
I love it! And I'm very impressed that you didn't have to remove the mums to do your project. I'm such a slob, I don't know if I could do that. . .
Oh I am so happy for you.
Be sure to come by tonight around 9pm (Eastern time) for the announcement so you don't miss out. I promise-it good-really really good.

Its So Very Cheri
What an awesome gift to find on your porch..and a very talented way to display it! You did good.

Girl, I never would have thought to decopouge my flower pot. It looks so darn pretty that way! I'm so glad the Mum Fairy stopped by your house. The color of the flowers really are so pretty. Have a happy day!
Love it, mums are so pretty on the front porch but the plastic pots they come in are so ugly. I have tons of scraps and a brand new bottle of mod podge, what a great way to use them up. Definitely trying this soon, my DH will have to be my mum fairy. Bet I can talk him into getting one today.
We, too, need some mums! I found your blog through Christianne's. (I know her from JMU.) I have enjoyed browsing your blog and I absolutely love your boys' room…I'll be returning often!
AWWW, I NEED a MUM fairy too!!!!
So nice for someone to think of you! And the pot looks gorgeous!!! Great job! (-:
So pretty, Beth! What a great idea to dress up those plastic pots. I still want to get a few mums for our front garden – just to add that touch of fall to the plantings. My mums from last year are budding now and filling in the space nicely.
