I have bitten off way more than I can chew lately and it’s starting to take its toll. Today I had to do our taxes which I was looking forward to about as much as a colonoscopy. To add to my tax joy the $70 TurboTax Deluxe disc that I purchased back in January refused to work on my Mac! After two hours of trying all the customer service tricks (and not ever being able to talk to a live person), I finally paid another $70 to download the software. Gah! To top things off, my husband is under a tremendous amount of stress right now and isn’t too happy about all the extra things I have on my plate. He wants his “stay at home wife” to actually have time to take care of the kids, clean the house, and have dinner ready. I’ve barely kept my head above water and admittedly dinner has been lacking lately.
When I saw this picture below in my Pottery Barn catalog I laughed out loud. Here is the imaginary conversation I imagined between Beth and Matt.
After a long day of trying to homeschool, blog professionally, complete some side projects, take care of home business, and get the house ready for company, Beth was feeling overwhelmed and stressed out. When Matt asked if she could bring out the drinks and to not forget the garnish, Beth made sure Matt received his garnish!
LOL! Now in all reality if we had company my husband would be the one in the kitchen getting drinks ready and I would be the one asking for extra garnish (and he would never give me more than one lime), but I thought this was too funny to pass up! Can’t you just picture the scene? 🙂
I’ll be back with a PB knock off project tomorrow, but for now I need to figure out what is for dinner and finish filing my taxes!

It took me a minute but when I spotted it I had to LOL! I love your blog and am so glad I follow you on Facebook. I never miss a thing that way.
Love the "keepin' it real" stories from my favorite blogs. I usually love Pottery Barn's displays, but THIS one is odd and funny to me. Is this for people that buy 40 limes on sale at the grocery store or what??? And I agree with the comment about all the fishing floats….strange.
That's so funny. I laughed at this picture as well, but not for the garnish but the strange lobster floaty things. Who would have that many in their living room?
Thanks for the laugh…happy weekend Frances
"Amanda was feeling quite proud of herself as she looked around. It was 3:00 in the afternoon. She had her blog posts up, dinner was planned, laundry done. She had even cleaned up her house (the parts people could see anyways) and changed out of her sweat pants. Ahhh today would be a good day. Just then her son comes flying in with his bff. They throw down their backpacks in front of the door. They run and jump on the couch to play video games, all while tracking in mud. Of course they get bored and begin to jump on the couch fighting with light sabors and all of those pretty pillows fell to the floor. They request a snack and because 1. the genius who built our apartments put carpet in the dining room and 2. Josh is the messiest eater in the world that room was now…trashed. In walks Andy who looks around and says "uh so what did you do all day." Sigh. Wake up the next morning to hubby's yogurt containers on the floor next to the couch. Today I say: screw it. 🙂
We all have bad days!! Feel better! Turn that frown upside down sunshine! 🙂 🙂 {That was totally 2 smiley face worthy}
Amanda
Dear Bethy-poo,
Wishing you a beautiful, productive, fun-filled, relaxing weekend!

🙂
You are a riot!
Ha!! That was as good as Catalog Living! Well done Beth!
Take a deep breath and know that you had a perfect storm of crap. (Taxes, technical difficulties, etc.) Get a drink with the perfect amount of garnish and take a deep breath. FiddleDeeDee Scarlett, tomorrow is another day.
(And you CAN do it.)
I am laughing so hard about the garnish!!! ha ha! Just remember, those stepford wives were taking drugs! Linda
Too funny! Glad I'm not the only one waiting until the last minute to do my taxes! I hate it! Did you know they aren't due until the 18th this year? I just found out, I'm not sure if that's a good thing, I'll just procrastinate longer! haha!
Now that is funny stuff! You are too funny. What a pain in the tail with the tax stuff. We started taking ours to a CPA. It is the best $150 we have ever spent. He is awesome!
Do you remember anyone doing a knock off PB butterfly pillow. I know I saw it on a blog and can't find it anywhere! I am going to google it and see if I have any luck!
Take your time and get your head above water. It is never fun to have that drowning feeling. I should start sending you my menus I make! I seriously plan out all my meals for 3 to 4 weeks. I pick one cookbook and pull from it and use my regulars. I have found that I actually try some new ones and I am not searching all over the place for a recipe. It helps me grocery shop and it helps me know what to make each night and to lay out meat to thaw and things. It has really helped me!
I hate the stress of taxes too… I learned a few years ago to just let my cpa do them, the 200 is worth the time and hassle it saves me!
Lol! That is so funny! I feel for ya! I have bitten off more than I can chew lately too, and my hubby has the exact same idea as yours! Also amazed that when I saw that pic in my PB catalog I didn't notice that! lol I was probably too busy looking at the cart thinking "I could use a drink right about now!" 😉 And about the prop guy, he must have worked at the McDonald's here because everytime I ask for extra pickles on my burger that's what I get! ~April @ Wildflowers & Whimsy
We've all been there. Feeling like there is just way too much on our plates, having so many want to do's and need to do's. Being a stay at home mom is hard isn't it? I have a mac too, (2 in fact) as much as we love ours, they can be a pain sometimes. Thank goodness you have until the 18th this year to get the taxes done! If your husband is giving you flack, just tell him to keep his shirt on, and take a step back and realize how much you actually do. Most husbands are lucky if they get one hot meal a week, the house is actually picked up when they get back, or the kids are clean. You do a great job. Honestly.

Tell the hubby to relax, everything will be fine, just serve him Digiorno pizza in one of those bikinis that you look fabulous in (after two kids!). And no….I'm not bitter…not a bit…
You are too funny, Beth! What WERE they thinking???
Sorry about your disc…hang in there.
XO,
Jane
Ugh! I feel for ya! Love the imaginary conversation. LOL…
I loved this post! Thanks for the laugh. I completely understand. Biting off more than you can chew is an art. I'm quite artistic.
Ha! I'm right there with you this week. The kids have been off this week for spring break. I have no idea how women who don't send their kids away for the school day manage to do it all without imploding.
Kudos to you for letting us have a glimpse behind the curtain.
Here you go my friend!

I have seen Catalog Living before and was thinking this pic would be perfect for her to do a spoof on. I'll have to hop on over and see what she did!
That is hilarious! I have had a good time making up conversations from my latest issues of JCrew as well. Did a couple of posts on it…Style or Vile I call it. Don't you love noticing little hilarities in professional shoots?!
Thank you for the laugh! Sorry for your terrible day, but got a tickle wondering which garnish from the photo would work best on a hubby.
LOL too funny!! I hear ya sister- you aren't alone if that makes you feel any better. I only blog for fun and it's all I can do to stay current 😀
Here's to hoping things settle down a bit for ya. Love your blog!!
Beth this is so funny. REal life is not what we see in PB catalogs or that matter any catalog. Maybe time to re-group this weekend. No fun when the unbalanced takes over. Trust me it is soooo Not worth it!!!! Family first always!!!! Hang in there sweetie, this too shall pass, or so they say, Kathysue
Have you seen the website http://catalogliving.net/
She posts hilarious comments about pictures from home catalogs, Pottery barn is a favorite. I know I saw her comment on these limes a while back. Soo funny!
I so needed to laugh outloud…thanks for the hee haw! I love that you paid attention to that detail! I overlook alot of those things in the catalog just because there is so much to look at! I hope things get a little more normal for you soon!
Seriously something in the air or low tide.. Had a comparable conversation here. And I would like someone to bring me the drinks with garnish! Heck, we live in Utah.. we can get another wife ;o)
Well.. I posted a PB knock off just now, so feel free to borrow and take a day off tomorrow!

HAHAHA!!! I would do that to my fiance, not even kidding… OOPS… 😉
That's what's so great about blogging…take some time off, keep it real, and everyone loves you all the more for being human. 🙂 At least I love you all the more for it!!
Aloha,
Charlie
Oh this post and picture is just a hoot. They must have had someone new setting up the props. I can just see them thinking "am I really suppose to use ALL these limes? well, okay!" 🙂
Hey, I am sure enjoying my fancy scarf tie you showed us a few weeks back! Love it!
