Easy Ornament Ideas

This week, I shared my Christmas tree with you! If you happened to miss the post, you can see the entire Christmas tree tour here. I promised I would pop back in to share my easy ornament ideas. I like to switch up the look of my tree each year, but I don’t like spending a fortune to do so! This year, I made some semi-diy ornaments and you are not going to believe how easy they were to make!

Easy Chalkboard Ornament Idea

For this ornament, I purchased inexpensive chalkboard ornaments at Michaels. You can easily make your own if desired. I have a tutorial on how to make your own chalkboard ornaments that I did back in 2010! I then purchased $1 stickers from Target’s Dollar Spot and stuck them on my ornaments. I didn’t have to stress over creating chalkboard art. I stuck some stickers on the ornaments and was done! As a bonus, I found wooden Merry Christmas gift tags, spray painted them red, and stuck them on the tree. They look adorable and cost me pennies to create.

Easy Hot Cocoa Mug Ornament

This ornament cost about $3.50 to make, so it’s a bit more “pricey”. I bought $3 mugs from Target’s Dollar Spot, stuck a sticker on it, and placed a handful of cotton balls in the top of the mug. That’s is seriously it!

I know it’s not exactly conventional to put mugs on your tree, but I absolutely love how cute they look!

  1. Those mugs are so cute, but I’m curious – what are they made of? I’m just surprised they actually hang from the tree and don’t just fall down from being too heavy. Since they’re mugs I’d think they’re ceramic or glass, but maybe they’re plastic?
